Discovering God’s Word: An Inductive Bible Study Guide

The Inductive Bible Study method is a way of studying the Bible that focuses on directly engaging with the text to discover its meaning. Instead of relying primarily on outside sources or pre-formed interpretations, this approach invites us to observe, interpret, and apply the Scripture for ourselves. It encourages a deeper understanding of the Bible by allowing the text to speak for itself.

This guide is divided into clear sections with titles to help you move through each stage of the inductive Bible study process:

• Observation: Understanding what the text says. This includes exploring who the passage was written to, looking into the meanings of keywords, and paraphrasing the text.

• Interpretation: Understanding what the text means. This includes finding cross-references, exploring commentaries, and considering how the passage fits within the broader message of the Bible.

• Application: Understanding what the text means for you. This section includes exploring how you can practically and specifically live out the truths revealed in the text.
